Goodbye 2011, Hello 2012!

 Happy New Year my dear readers! I hope this year treats you well ♥

Last year I decided to make some New Year resolutions for the first time in my life and I was very successful at failing at them.This year I intend to return to my anti-resolution mentality.

2011 felt like it was pretty uneventful, but when I think about it I realize that even though I may not have achieved anything I had planned for the year, things still worked out well.

The best thing that happened to me during the past year was when I realized what career I wanted to pursue and then went back to school on a whim. Yes, I made a huge decision without careful planning or thought in literally moments. It was a risk for me, because I honestly had no idea how I was going to pay for it. This was completely unlike me, I don't take risks or make major decisions without careful planning. It made me realize how much I've changed.

I do have a goal for this year, but it is not a New Year's resolution. My goal is to keep my 4.0 GPA and get accepted into the honors program. After spring semester I will have enough credit hours to be eligible to apply.

I had some free time in which boredom was beginning to trickle in, so I decided to do some stuff in photoshop. It has been awhile since I've done anything, other than simple photo editing. And what's more fun than animated GIFS?

Even though I've known how, I've never actually made an animated GIF in all 9+ years that I've been doing graphic design/image editing. Maybe this is why I found so much excitement in making cute bubbles float around...

Hot Chocolate Design

Here is my most recent digital illustration. Created in Adobe Photoshop CS2, used my pen tablet. I'm planning to make some hard plastic charms with this design, probably necklaces and rings.

I need to buy some new ring bases. I'm looking into getting a different type then I normally do, as well as some gold ones. I'm looking for inexpensive small quanities of various types so I can compare, but it is much cheaper to buy it in bulk. In bulk it is around $0.09 per ring, in small quanities it is around $0.50 per ring. I wish someone sold a mixed sample set, but the only mixed sets I have found are assorted colors rather than style/type.

Sweet Cherries

I created a new design for my hard plastic jewelry. I was going to make necklaces last night, but my new printer is lame so my plastic wouldn't feed through. So I guess I have to get ink for my old printer.

Anyways, here is the design. The actual jewelry will just be the cherries, no background. The background is a photoshop pattern I created a few days ago. I like the pattern so much that I am now using it as the background for my twitter page.

Blogger's image compression makes me sad. Goodbye dear image quality!

Stationary Designs

Yesterday I was sitting at home, alone and bored. I had been cleaning, but where is the fun in that? So I decided to have some fun in photoshop. I have an addiction to kawaii stationary, but I haven't bought any recently. I'm broke. So I thought "hey, why not make my own?" And that is exactly what I did. I made three different designs, one which I made in both pink and blue (so four in total). Of course I don't have any printer ink, so I can't print them until I make some money. Anyways, here is the results.My favorites are the panda one and the blue cloud one. Each one has the kanji for Tangerine Taiyaki and also says "Hello Sweet Love". I can't wait until I can print them out and start using them!

Flickr and the Picky Eater

I have a flickr account now! I have uploaded a few photos, but not much. Hopefully I will get more uploaded soon. I also joined a few groups.

About a week ago I got some bird feeders that I hung on the tree next to my balcony. When it rains the finches always come and hang out in the tree, which is what gave me the idea of getting the feeders. Sparrows and doves are now coming as well. The doves are entirely too big to eat from the feeders, so I have been sprinkling seeds along the ledge of my balcony for them.

There is one sparrow that comes everyday and pushes the seeds out of the feeder with the side of his head. I think he is a picky eater, and just digging around for the sunflower seeds. He also comes on the balcony edge and only eats the sunflower seeds.

New Logo- Rainbow Kanji

I designed a new logo today. Well, not exactly "new" since I didn't really have one to begin with. I'm not sure if I am 100% satisfied with it, I'll probably do some more tweaking around. Hurray for kanji
